Bike Fest 08

8th Annual Tejon st. Bike Fest - Colorado Springs, Colorado

Story and Pictures - Snowbound - Rocky Mountain Editor

Mix in a few helpings of custom bikes with a generous portion of live music and beer, throw in a few thousand bikers and perfect weather and you have all the ingredients for the 8th Annual Tejon Street Bike Fest here in Colorado Springs.

There were many stretched-fat-tire choppers. I really liked the "windshield" on this one. Maybe it gets the 'bagger" discount on insurance

I'll bet this thing is a rocket with the nitrous and all…

As usual Pro Promotions did an outstanding job organizing and making sure it was a great event. Many thanks to Jim and his crew.

The activities included all the normal biker-type events as well as a bikini contest and bikini bike wash. As luck would have it, I missed both of them.

I really liked this bike by Bessemer Customs out of Pueblo, Co. Very well done. It has hydraulics that raises and lowers the bike. No need for a kickstand as the bike just lowers and rests on a frame rail.

I am still a pushover for a well-done old school chopper. I really liked this one.

There were some biker rodeo events and a ride-in bike show. It seemed as though there weren't as many bikes in the show as years past, but then again I was a late arrival this year. The bikes that were in the show were beautiful and well done.

I only got to see the Jake Loggins band and the Inman Brothers Band. As usual, they both rocked everyone's socks off.

This skullbike had skulls everywhere. I really liked the little one on the headlight.

The Godfather bike had a great theme and excellent graphics.

There was plenty of beer available at the Coors Lite Beer Garden, and enough food vendors to satisfy any appetite. All of the Tejon Street eateries and drinking establishments were running at capacity too. No excuse for being hungry or thirsty.

Walking down Tejon Street and the side streets off of it was sorta like being on a min-Sturgis main street with plenty of vendors selling the usual stuff. There were also a few bike builders and shops represented on the main drag too.

This Fatboy had a really cool etched chrome thing going on.

There were even some nicely done Oriental choppers like this 650 Yamaha.

The bars were crowded

It's always nice to see an event of this size and quality, especially so close to home.

I believe this event will continue to grow and gain in attendance as more and more bikers discover what a great time it is. I hope that it may turn into a multi-day event in the future.

Now, the road is calling
