PassionMany people guide their lives with the wind in their hair and .... destination to be announced. And then there are those who are driven by a passion much deeper than just the freedom of the open road. GG rides for the kids. She is the Event Coordinator for SAFY. Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth. SAFY is a not for profit treatment foster care agency serving more than 1,000 children and their families in eight states. " These are not bad kids. They are kids that have been treated badly. Did you know there are 736,000 kids in foster care at this very minute that need our help". And help comes in the way of GG bringing together the biker communities in 18 cities and 6 states for a poker run. June 14th, the largest poker run in the country will take place. All for the benefit of the kids. See details here. GG has had motorcycles in her life from childhood. "Me? I ride a '92 flstc, original peaches and cream with a Mikuni carb. You got that right! She and I are one. She is my "keeper" and about as girlie as it gets and still be a HD. I've been riding since my Mom put me on her tank at 18 months, graduated to the back of my Daddy's at the ripe ol' age of 6 and slung my leg over my own at 15. I've ridden my bike in 43 US States & most of the Eastern half of Canada. Riding frees mind & soul." GG's father was a compelling influence in her life. ( See "Daddy's story") Having been in foster care himself and suffering the consequences of an abusive situation, GG has dedicated her ambition to helping those kids who's families have been torn apart or lost all together. Many of these kids have never known a loving family let alone a prom dress, new glasses or a football uniform.". GG and bikers throughout the US help SAFY provide the extra things not normally afforded for the kids. GG hails from South Carolina however her world is far ranging and RumbleNews would like to welcome her as the Nomadic Associate Editor. She may pop up anywhere at any time. For more info about SAFY and how you can help, Here is SAFY's web site. And their hotline 1-800-SAFYKIDS. GG will be riding in Charleston, South Carolina with the SAFY poker run on the 14th of June. July 12th, she will be riding in Muncie, Indiana with another SAFY run. Then she's off to Kentucky for Little Sturgis. She will keep us up to date on the out come of these events and we will have a schedule page up for her soon.
"Hi Ya! Come on in, kick back for awhile and let's talk... You can hang your leathers over there on the peg by the door if you want. I'm a single Mom of seven grown kids. Okay put your hand on your chin and shut your mouth, that's right... I said seven! My bike's name is "Faith". I have faith in her to get me there and back, and faith in myself to handle her when she's feelin' full of herself! Me, I'm just scooter trash that got a chance to live my passion. I ride, raise money for kids, and write for RumbleNews! Life doesn't get much better! Other than that I'm really no different than you. We all love to ride, go to events, poker runs, and just be out on the open road with friends or solo... I'm depending on you guys and gals out there to let me know when and where this cool stuff is happening. I'll do my best to get to it, get it covered and get it on RumbleNews. So make sure to check back often for reports, photos and other info! Until then if you see a peach and cream Heritage flying by, wave it's probably me... if you see her parked somewhere look me up, I'll not be far away. Wishing you all days of blue skies, nights of gentle rain, safe rides and wind in your smile... Always, GG..."
