Julia how long have you been on the drag track racing motorcycles?
9 yrs

How did you get into racing?
Thompson Drag way in Ohio. It cost $5.00 to race your street bike. I had to talk my husband into going first. We both signed up to race and he won! We were racing all day and had lots of fun. Then my husband signed me up in Rockingham N.C. at a 99 event AHDRA . That was the start of it all. We attended my second race~ the next season in AZ. and I placed in the 1/4 finals my second race out, TOTALLY hooked from then on !!

What kind of street motorcycle do you ride?
1998 Heritage
1995 Sportster 1200 Split the swing arm 170 tire

What goes through your mind as you go full throttle down the drag track?
I'm thinking about winning & a good launch, with a sticky spot. I am looking for a focal point just like you do when you are riding into a curve. It's the same on the track, I must find a focal point to focus on till I cross that finish line.

Have you ever wrecked?
Not as of yet.

How many races have you won? Well I won my 1st championship in 2005 without ever winning a race that year. I did really well at each one and it accumulated my points. I was the first female to win a back to back Championships .
I won twice in 2006 & did well at rest of the races towards accumulate points towards the 2006 championship.
Karen Wagner was the First Female to win a AHDRA National Championship.

Does any of your family members share the same passion of speed?
Well yes...My Dad was always a stock car racer and my 2 brothers have always been motor heads. It runs through my blood veins.
Once I rode that $5.00 track I was hooked!

Do you work on your own bike?
Only when I have to.
What makes you want to get to the race track and race? What drives you?
Well It's been a long week of working and I and now it's time to go play. Once I get to the track and race all my stress and worries are gone in the wind.

Who empowers you and why?
My Husband - He totally believes in me and makes it all possible. He says there is no room in my vocabulary for I can't... those words don't exist. He is a very special guy who is a easy going and laid back kind of guy.
What would you tell other woman who are considering racing as a career?
To take the Motorcycle Safety Course First to learn the skills of riding.
At the race track start in one of the lower classes and have tons of fun racing. And to work your way up the classes and continue to have fun.

Was it hard entering a mans world of racing being a woman rider?
No, it wasn't hard at all. To be honest it never bothered me having a guy racing beside me. Their just like having my brother's pull up along side me and dare me by saying, I'll beat ya. And I say, Oh no you wont!!!
