  Karen Wagner Escondido, Ca. Age - 45 SS - 37 Bike # PG - 9 Bike # Karen what class do you race in? Pro Gas Class What kind of motorcycles do you race? I have 2 A Super Sport 135 mph Motor Sporty 1994 158 Cubic inch Evo Motor How did you get started into racing? I am second generation of racers. It is in my blood. My father was a drag racer who always raced the old dragsters in the early 60's. Dad raced against the icons of racing which was Shirley MulDowney and Connie Kalita. What goes through your mind as you go down the race track? My thoughts are focused on letting off the clutch & shifting when the light comes on, then my thoughts are on how did I launch? I keep my mind and eyes focused on the end of the track, your eyes take you to where you want to go just like street riding.   Have you ever wrecked and what happened? Yes I have, on my Sporty in the 2004-2003 off season. I had just put on a new slick {Tire} and was on the local track in San Diego. When I launched the front end of the bike went straight up in the air and at that time the motorcycle went out control as if it was bucking and was very violent, I soon went down on the left side. This had left no damage to the bike which was great. My injuries were bumps and bruises however the following week I was back out there racing once again. What advise would you recommend to other woman who have the dream and passion of racing such as yourself? Well to always have fun with it, it helps to learn as much as you can and be friendly to get to know the other racers and learn from their experiences. What drives you to want to come to the race track and race? The biggest high that you can imagine with adrenalin rush like no other! The rush of going down the track in full speed, the faster you go the more you want to go.............Once I'm out there, I never want it to stop or end. When I reach the finish line I want more....but I have to get out of the way and off the track for the others racers turn. Here is an example of a adrenaline rush that I experience. Imagine this...You know you had a good pass when you take off your gloves your helmet & unzip your jacket as the rush of your body begins to rush through your veins in your body quickly sending chills & warmth through your nerves and your whole body and hands begin to tremble and shake uncontrollably. That is a adrenaline rush. I love it!  Who inspires you and why? The Fulers are the guys who ride the Nitro Bikes. Because the are absolutely CRAZY AND INSANE!!!!! They are NUTS! Have you seen them racing Luuezz, No I said, Every time they are racing, I'm done in the Pit's interviewing you woman racers. They are sooo loud it's like a Boeing. Karen said they go over 225 MPH in less than 9 seconds! Well, let's hurry up with this interview we can finish it up online I said, and Karen said, We'll go up and watch them you and I. Some of them ride up the track the whole way with the front wheel up in the air, 1/8 of a mile a thousand feet, they have to drop that front tire back down to the ground to hit the finish line! Is that crazy or what! Nitro is a very highly explosive "Methane" Does anyone else in your family race Karen? My husband Jack Wagner. We are a team. I ride a 1996 Dyna Low Rider Yes....I still ride the West Coast as much as I can! What is your riding gear on the race track? I said sure...Karen walks over to the new Moped and I said, I walk beside you as we go up, so go slow.... She says "Get On" I said "No" She said "Get onnnn" I said "No" Karen says what? why.....I'm afraid" She says again Comeeeeee onnnnnnnn, get onnnnn. As I stood there for a brief second my thoughts were, I have my camera around my neck which costs thousands of dollars and this is why I don't want to get on this moped with her! Then I look at the seat and it doesn't look long enough for her and I said to her where are you going to sit and just then I lifted my leg over the seat and Karen got on and said hold on tight to my waist and off we went up through the pits to the race track. As I seen guys look at us and wave at these 2 crazy girls as we flew on by.... and I'm holding tight to my camera and lens and thinking that if anyone has a camera this would be the Photo Of The Year! Karen Wagner and Luuezz Riding a Moped together, laughing out loud. We spent sometime with each other that day, hugged and said our good byes. I’ll be seeing Karen, Wanda, Stacey and Julie soon.
