Laughlin 08

Laughlin River Run 08

Thousands of bikes, warm weather and spring fever bring this river community to life. This year as with  past events, has brought people from all over the US. I met riders from several states. The estimated attendance has been set at 60,000.

Bikers have been arriving at this event for 26 years. There have been good years and better years.  This year appeared to have all the makings of a good show. There were plenty of vendors, cool bikes, contests and scantily clad women to give one the event experience.  I of course caught the highlights, however for me it was about the people attending the event. With out all the riders who braved the desert, heavy crosswinds and the 5 pound grasshoppers hitting you at 70 mph ..... there would be no event. Now of course, with out an event, I would have gone ... somewhere else. So, aside from the really cool bikes, my favorite part of the event is people having fun and riding. I will have a page up on the winners and best losers of the bike contest as soon as I can. In the mean time, .... here's the people.

Best of show. Mike Owens from Granbury Texas. Check back for complete story on  the bikes and builders.

There were the Hired Babes and .................................................................. the tired babes.

Just about everywhere you went there were people having a good time. And ... leather and chrome were the colors of the day.

There were some very good musicians. I had a chance to catch a few of the acts and several of the dancers.

And then there was the constant parade of bikes on the strip. Night is when it gets real interesting.

I enjoyed just watching the bikes and the riders.

We have many more pictures. I will be going through them and expanding the coverage of the River Run. I will also load full size photos of these thumbs, so check back soon.

We will be in San Bernardino, CA this coming weekend for the Berdoo Bikes and Blues Rendezvous. We intend to give you a look at the festivities as soon as they happen.
